'A man has completed a challenge to cross the width of Australia on a non‑electric kick scooter.'

Bob Brown of Saltash, Cornwall, travelled about 2,800 miles from Perth to Sydney, finishing on Monday after 31 days, four hours and ten minutes.

He aimed to break two Guinness World Records: the fastest person to cross the country on a kick scooter and the first to do so using three distinct methods – running, cycling, and scootering.

At 57, Brown said, "after a lifetime packed with adventure, I wanted another epic journey before I got too old."

He hoped to raise £5,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support, St Luke’s Hospice and Children’s Hospice South West, while encouraging youngsters to step away from screens for real-world thrills.

Brown sustained injuries during the trip, clipping a wing mirror on day five and skidding onto a hard shoulder, then breaking a handlebar on the last day while going down a steep hill – both incidents leaving him "relatively unscathed".

The 57‑year‑old completed the route in 31 days, four hours and 10 minutes. He has submitted documentation to Guinness and is awaiting official recognition.
