Father mourns Palestinian teens shot dead in West Bank attack
Funerals were held this week for two Palestinian teenagers, Omar al‑Naasan and Khalil Abu Alia, who were killed when Israeli settlers and soldiers entered the village of al‑Mughayyir, south of Nablus.
The killings come at a time of daily clashes between Jewish settlers and Palestinian residents in the area, with violence often escalating into lethal force.
Omar’s father, Mohammed Al‑Naasan, told the BBC that he fears his sons return from the street injured or killed: “We expect that when our sons walk in the street, they are likely to return to you injured or killed.”
Israel’s military said it fired on “instigators of a violent riot” during the confrontation and the incident is under review.
The United Nations has reported that more than 80 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the territory since the start of 2026.
The tragic deaths add fresh weight to the ongoing debate over security, human rights, and the political future of the occupied territories.
