U.S. forces resumed strikes on Iranian targets Tuesday, following accusations of Iranian attempts to attack commercial shipping and U.S. service members in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. Central Command said the attacks began at 12:00 ET (16:00 GMT) and targeted sites in the Chabahar and Konarak counties.

Iran’s state media reported that four projectiles struck the coastal areas, and several explosions were heard around Qeshm Island, Konarak and Bandar Abbas. Iranian officials warned that the U.S. would regret the strikes.

President Donald Trump described the strikes as “large and powerful,” citing an earlier Iranian missile attack on a U.S. base in Jordan. He threatened a larger retaliatory attack should Iran respond, claiming it would be a “harder and higher level” response.

IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi condemned the new U.S. aggression as a betrayal, stating that the U.S. would face severe punishment.

The latest developments close a week after the first known U.S. strikes on Iran in late July, when forces attacked two rocket launchers on Larak Island. The situation underscores escalating tensions over maritime security in the Gulf, with regional shipping lanes and geopolitical alliances in the balance.
