In brief

The verdicts come nearly nine years after the brazen heist during Paris Fashion Week, with sentences ranging from three to eight years, primarily suspended due to the defendants' advanced ages.

Eight individuals were pronounced guilty by a Paris court on Friday regarding their roles in the infamous robbery of Kim Kardashian that occurred in 2016. During the incident, Kardashian, now 44, was held at gunpoint, bound with zip ties, and relieved of jewelry valued at millions while staying at a rented luxury property for Paris Fashion Week.Among those convicted are seven men and one woman, all facing charges linked to varying degrees of involvement in the robbery. The court handed down sentences of three to eight years, mainly suspended, with the presiding judge, David De Pas, citing the defendants' older ages and health concerns as factors for the leniency. Despite this, he acknowledged the harm caused by their actions.Alongside the eight guilty parties, a ninth individual received a conviction for illegal firearm possession but was cleared of any participation in the robbery itself. A tenth individual was found not guilty due to insufficient evidence. The primary suspects have been dubbed the “grandpa robbers,” comprising a group of elderly criminals, many now in their 60s and 70s, who orchestrated one of the most audacious celebrity heists in recent French history.
