Amazon released its third‑quarter results Sunday, reporting net sales of $201.94 billion, a 12% increase from the same period last year, according to Xinhua. The rise was led by a 39.3% jump in AWS revenue, which topped $45.98 billion, and a 55% rise in AWS operating income to $17.77 billion.
Despite the sales growth, net income slipped 2.4% to $20.69 billion, down from $21.19 billion a year earlier, Xinhua stated. The drop was attributed largely to a $9.5 billion pretax gain recorded in the third quarter of 2025 from Amazon’s investment in AI company Anthropic.
Diluted earnings per share fell to $1.89 from $1.95. Free cash flow for the 12 months ended September 30 was a $42.4 billion outflow, versus an inflow of $14.8 billion a year earlier, the report said, citing higher AI‑infrastructure spending.
Looking ahead, Amazon projects fourth‑quarter net sales between $240 billion and $247 billion, representing 12‑16% year‑on‑year growth. Operating income is expected to reach $28.5‑$33.5 billion, up from $25 billion a year earlier, Xinhua added.
