In brief
Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense posted a short alert for Jizan City on Saturday, warning residents of a "potential danger". Minutes later, the agency announced the danger had passed, urging people to avoid gathering and filming. The episode occurred during a period of ongoing Houthi missile and drone threats to Saudi territory.
A brief “potential danger” alert was issued for Jizan City in southwestern Saudi Arabia on Saturday, according to Saudi Civil Defense. The agency posted the warning on X, urging residents to follow official instructions and to avoid gathering and filming.
Within a few minutes, the same agency updated its message, stating that the danger had passed and that the alert was no longer active. An Aljazeera report noted that Saudi Civil Defense “said the danger has passed” shortly after the alert was issued.
The incident came as Houthi‑backed missile and drone strikes continue to target Saudi territory amid an ongoing military escalation in Yemen. Saudi Arabia has led a coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government since 2015 in its fight against the Houthis.
In related news, regional news outlet RaiNews reported that another Saudi emergency alert was triggered in Najran, warning residents of a potential threat, though that alert concerned a different region.
