Oman's Royal Navy has rescued 25 crew members from a commercial vessel that was attacked and set ablaze about 1.6 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam, the Maritime Security Center said on Friday. The navy carried out the evacuation in coordination with the centre, and all crew received necessary medical care.

According to the Maritime Security Center, the vessel caught fire after being targeted. The incident was confirmed by the Royal Navy’s on‑board crew and by local security forces who observed the fire erupt on the ship.

Internazionale reports that the ship was Panamanian‑flagged and that the crew were rescued after the vessel was attacked. The outlet identified the vessel as the RITI, though no further details were given.

Uk maritime trade operations, in a separate report, noted that a vessel had burned roughly 25 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, the provincial capital of Musandam, and that the incident had been observed by international vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
