Russian Defence Ministry officials announced Monday that Russian forces had struck a railway traffic control facility at Konotop station in Sumy region and a cargo ship 37 kilometres southwest of Odesa carrying military materiel. The ministry said ships and transport hubs had become targets of daily attacks since mid‑July as part of its "special military operation" begun in 2022.

According to a statement released on the defence ministry’s official Telegram channel, the missile strike hit the Konotop station—a key hub for moving weaponry and military equipment from the country’s western regions to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The ministry added that the cargo ship, which was believed to be transporting military supplies for Ukraine’s army, was also hit by Russian fire.

The strikes are part of a pattern of daily attacks on southern Ukrainian port facilities and vessels involved in transporting military materiel across the Black Sea. Russian officials have said the operation is intended to protect the Donbas population and counter NATO expansion, while Ukrainian troops receive support from 32 NATO member states.
