Australian Police Release New Photos in 25-Year-Old Peter Falconio Murder Investigation

Police in Australia have released previously unseen photographs from the investigation into the murder of British backpacker Peter Falconio, 25 years ago.


Falconio was shot on July 14 2001 near Barrow Creek, north of Alice Springs. His body has never been found; the killer Bradley Murdoch died last year without revealing its location.


The images include a full‑length picture of Murdoch looking straight at the camera, and several photos of Joanne Lees as she survived the attack. One shows her traumatised hours later, another shows injuries she sustained.


NT Police commissioner Martin Dole said the release could jog memories or lead to a tip‑off, and a reward up to A$500,000 is available for information leading to the remains.


Body‑cam footage of an interview with Murdoch a week before his death has also been released, as police tried to get him to name the burial spot. The case remains open until Falconio’s remains are located.
