Xinhua reported that the 36th Chinese medical team concluded a four‑day free‑medical outreach camp at Kinduni Health Center in Zanzibar, treating more than 5,000 residents.
According to the outlet, the camp was organized at the invitation of the Maisha Bora Foundation, headed by Zanzibar’s first lady Mariam Mwinyi.
Wang Wei, head of the Chinese team, said the specialists worked alongside local medical staff, providing consultations, treatment across multiple departments, and exchanging diagnostic expertise.
The doctors also demonstrated practical medical techniques on site, strengthening the technical skills of local clinicians and building capacity at grassroots health facilities.
At the closing ceremony, Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, second vice president of Zanzibar, presented a certificate of appreciation to the Chinese team and noted that the long‑running medical mission has yielded tangible outcomes, embodying friendship between China and Tanzania.
Wang expressed hope that more joint medical outreach camps would be organized to boost local healthcare capacity and improve residents’ well‑being, according to Xinhua.
The event, held in the early days of November, came as part of China’s ongoing medical cooperation in Tanzania, with this iteration marking the 36th such team visit.
