Ariana Grande, 33, has announced that she will step back from public appearances and will no longer star in an upcoming London musical when her Eternal Sunshine tour ends next month.
The announcement, made to People magazine via her representative, cites “endless, ongoing public scrutiny” as the reason for her retreat.
The company running a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George at the Barbican confirmed that Grande is not part of the production for 2027, expressing full support for her decision.
Speculation has intensified following the release of Grande’s new album Petal and its music video, which shows her portraying a performer under relentless critical pressure.
Grande’s rep highlighted that the singer “looks forward to finishing her tour on a high note—healthily and happily”—and intends to take a well‑deserved break from public‑facing work.
The last show of her tour will be on 1 September in London, after which Grande will retreat from the spotlight.
