RYE, N.Y. – Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, has lodged a negligence lawsuit seeking $250,000 against her hometown, Rye, and the utility company, Consolidated Edison. This legal action follows an incident where she fell while walking on August 28, 2022, due to a wooden block protruding from a steel plate on the roadway, which was in place for gas-main work.
Pirro’s legal complaint alleges significant injuries, including bruises and contusions to her head, eye, face, and shoulder, along with ongoing pain and limited mobility. Following her injury, the 74-year-old former Fox News host reported needing medical attention and experiencing considerable discomfort.
Despite the lawsuit, representatives from both the city of Rye and Con Edison have refrained from commenting on the litigation. In their response to the claim, the city’s attorney stated that it can hardly be said that the City was negligent in a duty to pedestrians at a location that was not a pedestrian walkway. Meanwhile, Con Edison argued that the risks associated with the situation were open, obvious, and apparent."
Pirro has had a notable career, having previously served as a judge and district attorney for Westchester County. Following her confirmation as the Trump administration's top prosecutor for the D.C. district, this incident has drawn public scrutiny as it marks a significant personal setback for a high-profile attorney.
