Ontario Premier Doug Ford has announced that he will pause his province's anti-tariff advertisement campaign in the U.S. The decision comes after the advertisement provoked a strong reaction from President Donald Trump, who terminated ongoing trade talks.

Ford stated, The TV spot will be paused on Monday so that trade talks can resume, following his discussion with Prime Minister Mark Carney. The ad campaign will still run over the weekend on U.S. networks, including during the Major League Baseball World Series games.

Carney remarked earlier on Friday that Canada is ready to resume trade talks with the U.S. when the latter is prepared.

Trump criticized the ad late Thursday night on Truth Social, labeling it FAKE and egregious, and subsequently declared that trade talks were HEREBY TERMINATED. The advertisement, sponsored by the Ontario government, features a quote from former President Ronald Reagan, suggesting that tariffs hurt every American.

This situation emphasizes the fragile nature of trade relations and political diplomacy between Canada and the United States.
