The FBI announced that it disrupted a plot to attack an Ultimate Fighting Championship match that took place on the South Lawn of the White House. The fight was part of the tribute to President Donald Trump on his 80th birthday.

According to FBI Director Kash Patel, several suspects were arrested across the country as part of a multi‑state operation. Evidence indicated the attackers intended to use drone aircraft loaded with explosives to strike nearby buildings and then draw a crowd toward a sniper team.

A suspect was taken into custody in Cincinnati last week and investigators collected Signal messaging logs in which the plan was discussed. The plan reportedly involved a secondary wave of attackers aimed at breaching the White House gate after the initial drone attack.

The Secret Service confirmed that it had worked closely with the FBI throughout the investigation and that it would provide formal comments in court filings. No injuries were reported from the event.

The UFC 250 matches were a public spectacle that drew Vice President, other White House officials and several celebrities. The security measures in place at the event prevented any loss of life or damage to the property.
