The son of Mango founder Isak Andic has been arrested in connection with his father's death.

Jonathan Andic, 45, was detained by Catalan police on Tuesday as part of a renewed investigation into the death of the fashion tycoon, which was initially treated as an accident but was later reopened.

Isak, 71, died in December 2024 after falling from a ravine while walking in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona with his son. There have been conflicting media reports about whether they were alone or if other family members were present.

Jonathan has previously denied responsibility for his father's death, and a family spokesperson expressed confidence in his innocence amid the investigation.

He joined Mango in 2005 and later oversaw the company's Mango Man line, eventually becoming vice-chairman of the board after his father's death. Investigators in Catalonia had originally closed the case in early 2025 after finding no evidence of criminal wrongdoing, but reopened it later that year, citing inconsistencies in Jonathan's testimony, as reported by the La Vanguardia newspaper.

Jonathan was taken from his home shortly after 11:00 local time (09:00 GMT) for questioning. He later appeared before a judge, who ordered his detention with bail set at €1m, required the withdrawal of his passport, and mandated that he report to the court weekly.

Born in Turkey, Isak founded Mango in Barcelona in 1984 with his brother Nahman. At the time of his death, Forbes estimated Isak's net worth at $4.5 billion, underscoring his significant impact on the global fashion industry.

Mango CEO Toni Ruiz remarked on Isak's legacy, emphasizing the commitment to maintain the brand's vision and continue its growth following his passing.
