A woman who allegedly pushed razor blades into loaves of bread at two Walmart stores in Biloxi, Mississippi, was arrested on Tuesday. Camille Benson, 33, from Texas, faces charges of attempted mayhem with a bond set at $100,000.
According to Harrison County Jail records, there was no attorney listed for Benson who could be reached for comment on her behalf. Attempts to contact a potential relative of Benson were unsuccessful.
Customers reported the discovery of the razor blades at a Walmart Supercenter and a Walmart Neighborhood Market. Lt. Candace Young, a public information officer for the Biloxi Police Department, confirmed that the first report came from a customer at the Walmart Supercenter on December 5, followed by another report from the Neighborhood Market on December 8.
Following further complaints, Walmart employees inspected their products and found additional loaves that had been tampered with before informing law enforcement on Monday.
The police have urged anyone who purchased bread from these Walmart locations to inspect their loaves and report any findings.
Walmart issued a statement ensuring that the health and safety of their customers are a top priority. They have removed and inspected all potentially affected products from the impacted stores in Biloxi and appreciate the swift action taken by law enforcement, vowing to continue cooperating with the investigation.
The Biloxi Police Department indicated they do not believe other stores have been affected. Walmart advised customers who may have purchased tampered products to dispose of them and seek a full refund at their local store.
