Tourist Train Overturns in Spanish Tapas Festival: 17 Injured
A passenger wagon of a free tourist train overturned on Santo Cristo road in the Spanish town of Cártama on the night of Saturday, 14 June, leaving 17 people with injuries. The accident happened just after 21:30 local time (20:30 BST). Local authorities said the cause was unknown and that no serious injuries were reported.

Emergency services attended to those injured immediately, with four people—three children—later sent to a nearby hospital. The free train ride is part of an annual event called la Ruta de la Tapa y el Cóctel, which encourages visitors to sample local food and drinks at various businesses. The service was carrying about 30 passengers at the time of the incident.
After the accident, the train service was suspended for the weekend pending investigations. The town of Cártama lies just 17 km from Málaga and is a short drive from the resort city of Marbella.
The local authorities noted that the train was turning at a road crossing when the incident occurred. No driver or passenger died, and the event continues to operate a supporting route that stops at several restaurants and bars, offering customers stamps and raffle entries for prizes.
