Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has called on Russians to ignore rumours after the death of a laboratory technician at a plague research centre in Siberia, stating that the official cause of death was pneumonia of unknown origin.
The spokesperson urged people to rely only on information from Russia's public health watchdog and to be cautious of unverified claims circulating on social media.
In the same interview, BBC Russia editor Steve Rosenberg asked Peskov about President Donald Trump's offer of assistance to Russia. Peskov remained silent on the matter, focusing instead on the importance of transparent communication during the outbreak.
