South African television presenter and rapper Molemo Jub Jub Maarohanye was arrested in Edenvale after an alleged confrontation with a taxi driver. Police say the celebrity, who previously hosted a reality show exposing cheating partners, accused the driver of dating his girlfriend, forcibly escorted him into a vehicle, and fired a gun at him.
The driver escaped unharmed and drove to a police station immediately. Authorities have charged Maarohanye with kidnapping and gun possession offences and are set to process the case in Germiston Magistrates Court.
Maarohanye’s record includes a 2012 murder conviction later reduced to manslaughter, a 2023 arrest on rape and assault charges that were withdrawn in 2024, and earlier mob-related incidents.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday for an initial hearing, with further proceedings contingent on the outcome. The case underscores continued scrutiny of high‑profile figures in South Africa’s justice system.
