In brief
Danish police reopened a probe at Copenhagen Airport after receiving a new email threat aimed at two aircraft, the same day they searched the planes and found nothing suspicious. Authorities say passengers and airport personnel were not in danger, and the incident is being monitored for potential links to similar threats across Europe. Police and military bomb disposal specialists confirmed the planes' safety, while the investigation continues.
Danish police returned to Copenhagen Airport on Friday to investigate a fresh email threat that targeted two aircraft, a day after officers searched the planes and found no suspicious material, according to a statement from the police released by Xinhua.
The police say the initial assessment confirmed passengers and others at the airport had not been in danger, and the search of both aircraft by police and military bomb disposal specialists turned up nothing.
Police told Danish broadcaster TV 2 that Friday’s report appeared to concern a new incident and that officials were still gathering information, while TV 2 reported that Thursday’s threat had been sent directly to the airport by email and had targeted the two aircraft.
At the time, Copenhagen police said it was too early to determine whether the new threat was linked to similar threats against flights elsewhere in Europe, and the case is ongoing.
