South Park Creators Rename Series “South America” as Trump‑Themed Satire

After winning its latest Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program, the makers of the iconic cartoon announced that the upcoming season will carry the temporary title “South America.” The changes were described in a statement that alluded to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s own attempts to rename geographic features such as Lake Ontario and the Gulf of Mexico.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker tweeted that the new name was inspired by the “bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google” and that they will keep “South America” for now. The statement also praised Paramount‑Skydance’s “Skydance Capitulation,” a reference to a pending media‑merger that Trump’s administration helped approve earlier this year.

The show’s sign, normally emblazoned with “South Park,” was updated on the network’s social media feeds to read “South America.” Both Stone and Parker have a long history of lampooning Trump; the White House has previously described the series as “fourth‑rate” and “hanging on by a thread.”

The future of the renamed series remains uncertain, with no formal statement clarifying whether it will revert to its original title later in the season. The new season is scheduled to premiere on September 16.
