A military helicopter has crashed in Qatar, killing all seven people on board, authorities in the Gulf state report.

The crash, which occurred on Sunday in Qatar's territorial waters, was attributed to a 'technical malfunction.' All bodies have been recovered.

The victims included four Qatari military personnel, one Turkish serviceman, and two technicians from a Turkish defense company. The incident took place during a training exercise, and an investigation into the cause is currently underway.

Turkey maintains a military base in Qatar following a defense agreement signed between the two countries in 2014. In a statement, Qatar's interior ministry confirmed the fatalities and extended condolences to the families of the victims.

The Turkish defense ministry reported that the helicopter was engaged in a training operation as part of the Qatar-Turkey Joint Forces Command. The technicians were from the Aselsan defense corporation and the specifics of the crash will be determined by Qatari investigators.

This tragic event occurs against a backdrop of escalating tensions in the region, particularly as the United States and Israel conduct military actions against Iran, which in turn has retaliated against U.S.-allied nations in the Gulf.
