Bus crash on Egypt's Red Sea coast kills 22
At least 22 people were killed in a bus crash on the road between the Red Sea towns of Dahab and Nuweiba in the South Sinai governorate. An additional 28 were injured.
The crash occurred on a route that is popular with tourists from around the world. Several reports suggest that up to 10 Jordanian nationals were among the victims.
The investigators are still determining the cause of the crash, with no official statement released yet.
The Egyptian health ministry said all injured were being treated in three hospitals. Egypt has a high number of road fatalities, nearly six thousand deaths reported in 2025, largely attributed to reckless driving and poor road conditions.
Last month, a separate collision involving two lorries in the north‑eastern Ismailia governorate killed 18 people and injured 30.
The area continues to attract visitors, and authorities will likely review safety measures on this popular tourist corridor.
