The United Arab Emirates' (UAE) biggest port and oil storage facility, Fujairah, and Dubai's international airport have come under further drone attacks as Iran continues to target Gulf transport and oil infrastructure.

Flights were temporarily suspended on Monday after a fire broke out near the airport due to a drone-related incident.

A fire also raged after a drone attack on the strategically important port and industrial zone at Fujairah, one of the largest oil storage facilities in the region.

In another related incident, a rocket attack on a car near Abu Dhabi killed a Palestinian national, reported the city's Media Office.

The incident occurred in the Al Bahia area and follows a series of such attacks in UAE territories.

The UAE Defence Ministry stated that air defense systems intercepted six ballistic missiles and 21 drones on the same day. Iran has reportedly launched over 1,900 missiles and drones at the UAE since the war between the US, Israel, and Iran intensified.

This drone strike marks the third incident near Dubai's airport, which is the busiest for international passengers globally. Delays and cancellations of flights add to the strain on the UAE's reputation for safety and security.

Prior incidents included drone strikes on oil facilities causing significant disruptions to operations. Following the attacks, loading activities at Fujairah's facilities were temporarily halted for damage assessments.

Industry analysts note that such attacks expose the vulnerabilities of Gulf infrastructure while highlighting Iran's strategic objectives to disrupt energy flows. The UAE officials remain resilient, maintaining that the country’s economy can recover from these setbacks.

The port city of Fujairah also plays a crucial role in maintaining global oil supplies, operating outside the traffic of the Strait of Hormuz, which is vital for oil shipments.

Despite the ongoing context of conflict and recent acts of aggression, local resilience is visible, with businesses adapting to challenges and maintaining activity in certain sectors.
