US singer D4vd to go on trial for murder over death of teenage girl
A Los Angeles judge has ruled that US musician David Anthony Burke, known by his stage name D4vd, will face a murder trial after prosecutors accused him of killing 14‑year‑old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
The decision followed a five‑day preliminary hearing in which prosecutors presented photographic evidence and questioned witnesses before Hernandez’s family watched the proceedings.
Burke, 21, is charged with murder and sexual abuse of a minor. Prosecutors argue he stabbed the teenager and dismembered her body, based on a Tesla vehicle registered to his Los Angeles address where her remains were found last September.
The plaintiff’s defense maintains a not‑guilty plea, citing a lack of proof for the alleged threats that prosecutors claim motivated Burke to commit the crime.
Burke’s arraignment is scheduled for 31 August, with a trial to commence within 90 days thereafter. The case has drawn public attention due to the singer’s multi‑million‑dollar music career and the seriousness of the charges.
